Tom’s Background

Tom began providing counselling at the Crown Isle Medical Clinic when he realized that there was a need for something in addition to talk therapy.  At this time, he found Dr. Swingle from the Swingle Clinic in Vancouver, who is a pioneer in the neurofeedback field. Tom became certified in 2015.

Prior to that, his career covered counselling, teaching, research, and consulting with over 100 organizations. He directed a doctoral psychology program at Walden University.  He has a Ph.D. in the Psychology of Organizations and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology.

What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback therapy that uses real-time analysis of brain activity to help regulate brain function using specifically programmed light and sounds to retrain brainwave patterns, removing blockages and improving cognitive function helping the brain re-balance and self-regulate more effectively. Research has shown that neurofeedback can alleviate the effects of stress, anxiety, sleep issues, and trauma.

Our additional treatments, specifically focused on rest and relaxation, involve light therapy, sound and meditation. This approach is aimed to help rebuild the nervous system after the body has been overwhelmed by a constant fight-or-flight response.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, his services may be covered by some extended health plans. Please check with your extended health insurance provider to confirm.

Tom is authorized to provide his services through the First Nation Health Authority Health Benefits program.
