Tom Diamond, PhD
Certified Neurofeedback Specialist
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Tom specializes in the use of drug-free therapies, and particularly those which strengthen brain health against stress, anxiety, and sleep issues.
In addition, Tom gives back to his community on the board of the Comox BIA (Business in Action). This is the local organization that promotes business in the downtown core.
About Tom’s Background
At first, Tom provided counselling at the Crown Isle Medical Clinic. Soon after, he realized a need for something additional to talk therapy. At this time, he found Dr. Swingle from the Swingle Clinic in Vancouver, who is a pioneer in the neurofeedback field. Tom became certified in 2015.
Prior to that, his career covered counselling, teaching, research, and consulting with over 100 organizations. Notably, he directed a doctoral psychology program at Walden University. He has a PhD in the Psychology of Organizations and an M.A in Clinical Psychology.
This is a type of biofeedback therapy that uses real-time analysis of brain activity. It’s used to help regulate function, with specifically-programmed light and sounds to retrain brain patterns. As a result, it is working to remove blockages and improve cognitive function, helping the brain balance and self-regulate more effectively. Research has shown that neurofeedback can alleviate the effects of stress, anxiety, sleep issues, and trauma.
Furthermore, our other treatments involve light therapy, sound massage, virtual reality meditation, and much more. This approach aims to help rebuild the nervous system when the body faces a constant fight-or-flight response.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, his services may be covered by some extended health plans. Please check with your provider to confirm. Find out more about coverage here.
Additionally, Tom is authorized to provide his services through the First Nation Health Authority Health Benefits program.
